Right now it’s hard not to feel restricted. Almost everything is closed. In most states you aren’t supposed to go anywhere unless it’s essential. But what about staying on top of your exercise?

I’ll admit that hitting the gym or showing up for an exercise class is very convenient. Right now some people are being forced out of fitness routines that they’ve had for years. The good news is, the only thing you need for exercise is you!

You don’t need to be that creative to figure out what to do either. All you need is YouTube or Google. There isn’t any excuse for not doing body weight exercises. You are the gym! HIIT or high intensity interval training can be done without equipment too. If you can safely distance yourself from others, running outside is another great option.

I have always been a huge advocate of HIIT because it seems to cover all the bases. If you’ve never tried it before this might be the perfect opportunity. Ideally, you should incorporate several modes of training into your fitness regimen. This means don’t just run or don’t just lift. Have a diverse lineup of activity.

Just remember that isolation is not an excuse to do nothing. Use this time to explore new modes of exercise. Staying active during this moment in time is extremely important for your mind, body and soul!
